Note: All VBScript created by Bruce are fully compatible with all versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer currently in use by the general public (tested on IE 4 through 9).

  • Microsoft Agent Virtual Newscaster For Your Website - Use the VBScript (Visual Basic® Scripting Edition) written by Bruce to entertain and inform with the current news, weather, market quotes and sports headlines. This VBScript is similar to what is published at this website and can be used freely on your non-commercial website.
  • Microsoft Agent Virtual Newscaster HTML Application (HTA File) or local HTML file For Your Desktop - Save one of these little files to your desktop and launch it any time to listen to our Microsoft Agent Virtual Newscaster.
  • Microsoft Agent Powertoy 2008 for IE - This Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 4.0x Agent Powertoy has been updated to work after the installation of Microsoft Windows XP Service pack 2 and Windows Vista (tested through Internet Explorer Version 7). This tool allows you to turn ANY web page into a talking web page, even if it doesn't have native Agent support. Additionally, we've added support for multible languages (including Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Japanese, Korean, Italian, American and British English) to this animated desktop companion.

Microsoft Agent Technologies
  • Microsoft Agent Hotfix For Windows 7 - Microsoft Agent is not included in Windows 7, and it will not be included in any later versions of the Windows operating system. However, you can download Microsoft Agent as a hotfix for your Windows 7 computer. You must also manually download and then install the Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice TTS engine (American English) and the SAPI 4.0a runtime which are both available below.
  • Double Agent is an Open Source alternative to Microsoft Agent that allows Agent applications to work on Windows 7. You must also manually download and then install the Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice TTS engine (American English) and the SAPI 4.0a runtime which are both available below.
  • Microsoft Agent core components - Download and install the core components of Microsoft Agent by clicking this link. Note, you do not need to install these core components if you are using one of the Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000 or Windows Me operating systems. The Microsoft Agent core components are already installed on your computer. DO NOT install this component on Windows 7. Rather, choose one or both of the options above.
  • Lernout & Hauspie® TruVoice TTS engine - American English - These text-to-speech engines provide speech output capabilities for Microsoft Agent. Although you will be automatically prompted to install this required component, installation may fail because the original installation package from Microsoft is not digitally signed (Reminder: This technology was published more than a decade ago when software was rarely, if ever, digitally signed). Pippin does not have control of this file nor can we add a digital signature. You can be certain that this file is safe since it is being downloaded directly from the Microsoft Web site. To work around this issue: download and save the installation file to your local file system. Then, run the installation from your saved copy (On Microsoft Windows 7 machines downloaded files are typicaly saved in C:\Users\[Your_Login_Name]\Downloads).
  • SAPI 4.0a runtime - Install the SAPI 4.0a runtime support if you are using the Windows XP or greater operating system and intend to use any of the speech components here with Microsoft Agent. • Speech recognition engine - Speech recognition engines provide speech input capabilities for Microsoft Agent. Attention Vista and Windows 7 users! The speech recognition engine (now version 8.0) is included in all editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7.
  • Speech control panel - The Speech Control Panel enables you to list the compatible speech recognition and text-to-speech engines installed on your system and to view and customize their settings for your use. When you install the file, it adds a speech icon to your Control Panel that you can open. Note that this application will only install on Windows® 95, Windows 98, Windows NT® 4.0, and Windows 2000 systems.
